Finally...

It's about time you found me... yes I am referring to you dear... And it is about time you did after adding you and all... I was beginning to think you are challenged...

Anyway, I still have the same contact info, so you both can contact me if you need to ask me anything...

Cheers!

On Paranoia...

Some women just don't know when to stop thinking. This often leads to an irrational distrust or suspicion towards others.

What am I talking about?
The moments when women find themselves doubting their man or the person that they refer to as their man (which may or may not be requited).

No, this is not mere jealousy. Often I will define jealousy as making you see things that are not really there... This is beyond jealousy which can lead to a more serious psychological disorder.

You have crossed over if:

1. You ask your closest friend to check out the alleged "Other Woman". Check out her internet activities; FB, Friendster, Multiply, Blogs, et. al.
(This is not just any friend, this is somebody you've known since childhood or a long time friend who's seen you at your worst. Not any friend will do since you doubt everybody!)

2. You ask your friend to create a pseudo account or ask your friend to add her as a friend on any of the social networking sites where she comes up on.

3. You ask your friend to grab or copy pictures if ever they get a chance to be accepted as a friend by the alleged "Other Woman".

4. You ask your friend to take pictures or videos of them together so you will have solid proof that they are/were on a date.

5. You are still reading on, thinking... How can I know who you are and what you are doing... you've made sure it was your friend doing the stalking not you!

Hmmm... if you have been together with your so-called man for a few years now and you still think I am a threat... Well, maybe I am... Bwhahahahahaha...

Blood rushes through your head, your heart pounding, an outpouring of random emotions... your first instinct to curse me to high heavens, type a nasty comment telling me off to the next dimension.

Gurl, seek help... it's all in your head.

On Priorities...

The news (local) has been a total disappointment and an embarrassment to journalists.

I can never understand what's the deal with the over emphasis on the sex videos of Hayden Kho, everybody has it's hands on the issue so leave it to the experts... We don't need a blow by blow account and all the "he said..." "she said..." BS!

A lot is going on around us and the public does not even know about it!!! For all we know the US armed forces are on every port and air strip in the Philippines and all we care about is what Hayden Kho wore on the hearings...

Yes, we are in the brink of a war which we know nothing about nor is our concern. However, since we are allies (puppets) of the US government we might be the host for their carriers, APCs, planes (not only for SAR), submarines... (aka Balikatan).

Do we even hear about this in the news?

I might be paranoid but hey... it doesn't help that all the news I hear is about a sex video and the increasing lotto pot money. Talk about responsible journalism and prioritizing real issues.

I hope I'm just being paranoid... along with all the people in Al Jazeera.

On Tolerance...

"What is tolerance? -- it is the consequence of humanity. We are all formed of frailty and error; let us pardon reciprocally each other's folly -- that is the first law of nature."
~Voltaire~

Tolerance is recognizing individual differences, cultural diversity, above and beyond that, understanding that people, just like yourself, are not perfect. This is one of the foundations of freedom.

Now why freedom, knowing people around you will be tolerant means that you can freely express yourself; your eccentricities, quirkiness, sense and sensibilities without the fear of passing judgment or ridicule, in accordance to your personal boundaries. In the same way, people around you expect the same level of recognition to their freedom.

Socio-political structures, dogma, religion and laws have turned us into intolerant beings. This under the guise of social order and conformity. Who wants to live in a world of black and white? Who wants to live in fear of judgment? Who wants to live in a box of invisible walls?

On Empowerment...

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
~Marianne Williamson~

I always find myself reading this in time of self-doubt or anxiety. It always reminded me of who I am, can and will be... as I continuously seek and discern my way in this lifetime's journey.

On Global Warming...

The effects of Global Warming on climate changes have been very prevalent, specially these past few months. This must be one of the more extreme rainy seasons we've had in years. Not only the drastic changes in gale and wind, but the amount and frequency of rainfall is quite alarming.

Have you also noticed the increased incidents of twisters? I was in Cebu a few months ago, there was this huge twister on the water right across my window! Totally surreal... there's no place like home... there's no place like home... there's no place like home... Wait a minute... I am home...

On Happiness...

Reposting this from Skye's Yahoo 360 blog. Thought it was very insightful.

Many people complain about where they are in their life, what other people have and what they don't have, what they have to show for in terms of security either financial or emotional or both... and all of the other qualms of daily life that make people think they are empty or incomplete... or maybe it is ALL just you...

"The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts."
~ Marcus Aurelius Antoninus ~

Cosmic Law No. 35

THE LAW OF HAPPINESS

This Awareness indicates that the Law of Happiness as that Law which states that it is not who you are, what you do, or what you have that determines happiness, but how you feel about who you are, what you do, and what you have.

On Gladiator...

"A man has honor if he holds himself to an ideal of conduct though it is inconvenient, unprofitable, or dangerous to do so." ~ Walter Lippman ~

I'm just wondering, on which context this was written? Honor has been set as an evasive goal instead of a way of life. (if you don't get it, maybe it is an evasive goal to you... hehehehe)

I have always seen Maximus as the embodiment of a Man of Honor. And yes, in this time and age, I strongly believe that he belongs to an endangered or extinct specie... but there is always hope when all else turns to darkness and fear... Strength and honor...

On New Things....

Many people see me as one who gets bored easily... I mean who wouldn't! I spend half of my waking hours doing mundane stuff at work and at home.

I always look forward to weekends and vacations.... and of course the hot SUMMER!!! I have been to Boracay Island a couple of times, and done pretty much everything except for driving a quad.

Driving a quad is not as extreme as the things I have tried before... But it's totally new to me. It's like being a kid again... riding a bike for the first time and cruising up a mountain. (well, growing up in Baguio, I had my own kiddie stories of adventures and misadventures... and have the scars to show for... Teeheehee).

The good thing about driving around the island is that you don't have to worry about huge trucks or speeding cars... Instead, the locals would worry about you speeding and losing control while you're banking around a turn! LOL!!!

Then cruising up Mt. Luho is a blast, not to mention managing the terrain, plus the spectacular view of the island and the water as you go higher. Then there's the down hill drive... opppsss... I keep forgetting the breaks!!! I figured, I'm in a quad anyway, so might as well focus on staying on the road! Can't multi-task too much while admiring the view and driving... Teeheehee

Totally cool must try for everybody! If you don't mind the dust and the heat...

On Faking it....

I just had an interesting conversation with one of my good friends April... thanks to the wonders of YM... hehehe...

A couple of interesting points:

1. Everything can be faked except for 2 things IQ and culture/breeding (LOL)

a. IQ

- You are born with your IQ, no amount of studying, reading, a master's degree or a doctorate can add to your IQ. Primarily, it is what you were born with... and the way you understand (verbal and perceptual) and analyze things (logical reasoning and spatial visualization) will not improve with time. It's either you have it or you don't.

You either perceive the world in an analytical/logical manner, (ie. macro to micro or chaos to order) or you are a simpleton, just following blindly without knowing the how or why of things around.

b. Culture or Breeding

- You are born into a "social class" as snobbish as it may sound or as hypocritical as it may seem... this still holds true to this day and age (yes, I know we're past the dark ages!!!)... Let me explain my point...

The environment by which you grew up with would define the way you carry yourself, or your behavior in any form of social interaction.

As simple as saying, "I beg your pardon..." "Excuse me..." to knowing which silverware to use when dining, all the way to knowing Degas or Rembrandt... will and cannot be faked. Although some may get away with it, to some extent.

No matter how hard you try to learn art and culture, the manner or behavioral factors of a social interaction will most definitely give you away.

As simple as sitting or getting in/out of a car, when/when not to speak or would nodding suffice, starting and engaging in a conversation... all of which are part of social interactions.

Again, this is the environment you grew up with, going to a class or finishing school for 6 months will not undo 16 years of your formative identity.

2. No matter how hard you try to fake it... if you ain't got it, it will eventually show. It's all a matter of time, and a person who is smart and cultured to spot a wanna be... Need I explain this part? LOL!!!

On Fish...

Over the years, my friends have pretty much established a profile of the man I'd go out with or have good chemistry.

Some of these basic traits:

1. He should be smart and analytical enough to know that I am not indirectly or directly making fun of him.

I may say something like "Is that shirt from Topman? Hmmm... maybe that's why it has an Italian fitting." (being indirect) or I may say, "Is that shirt from Topman? Hmmm... maybe you should let the Europeans wear it!" (being direct)

2. He should be able to sustain a good conversation. Relating to the activity of choice, like if we watch an experimental film, see a play, visit an art exhibit, go to a book launch, or attend a wine tasting... et.al. Also, being able to make me laugh and laugh at himself is a plus.

3. He should be able to connect with my friends and/or acquaitances. I will most of the time, bump into somebody I know, basic introduction etiquette and make a good impression. Otherwise, he will just be labelled as one of the unidentified dates of Midz.

4. Looks, well that varies... not really very particular on looks. I have a very generic taste. Just like him...

On Vday...

In an attempt to be normal, or pseudo-normal as my friends would say, I have created a Valentines Day post.

This is one of my favorite love songs of all time... along with Promise Her the Moon (Mr. Big), All that I Bleed (Savatage), Fire and Ice (Poison) and Cryin (Joe Satriani)... if shredding is considered a song/composition... =)

Surrender by Trixter

Words of silence echo through this lonely room
Just a photograph and dreams that won't come true
I'll never know why I left you standin' in the rain
Cryin' tears of emptyness it's drivin' me insane

All I wanted was to love you
Never wanted to see you cry
All I need is just to hold you
I just can't say - Goodbye

Sometimes we raise our guns of pain but I'll be your defender
Cause if love means war, baby I surrender

You use words as weapons I use love as a shield
So tell me why are we on this battlefield
In a blaze of glory can we rise above these flames
In a world of anger there's got to be a way

Sometimes we raise our guns of pain but I'll be your defender
Cause if love means war, baby I surrender
We're just soldiers from the heart and I ain't no pretender
So lay down your arms and baby let's surrender

And thought my aim is true
I sometimes miss the mark
Ooh, in matters of the heart
But I'd give my life tonight
To hold you in my arms

In a blaze of glory can we rise above these flames
In a world of anger there's got to be a way

I just wanna hold you [surrender]
I just wanna love you [surrender]
I never meant to make you cry

Sometimes we raise our guns of pain but I'll be your defender
Cause if love means war, baby I surrender
We're just soldiers of from the heart and I ain't no pretender
So lay down you arms and baby let's surrender
