On Tolerance...

"What is tolerance? -- it is the consequence of humanity. We are all formed of frailty and error; let us pardon reciprocally each other's folly -- that is the first law of nature."
~Voltaire~

Tolerance is recognizing individual differences, cultural diversity, above and beyond that, understanding that people, just like yourself, are not perfect. This is one of the foundations of freedom.

Now why freedom, knowing people around you will be tolerant means that you can freely express yourself; your eccentricities, quirkiness, sense and sensibilities without the fear of passing judgment or ridicule, in accordance to your personal boundaries. In the same way, people around you expect the same level of recognition to their freedom.

Socio-political structures, dogma, religion and laws have turned us into intolerant beings. This under the guise of social order and conformity. Who wants to live in a world of black and white? Who wants to live in fear of judgment? Who wants to live in a box of invisible walls?
